Variations of communication technology have rapidly increased in contemporary societies, allowing for information to spread at a level unique to each individual’s methods of gathering it. As a result, the phenomenon of rumor circulation has posed a considerable threat to media credibility.
These developments in societal communication systems provide a set of circumstances that can be unsettling to governmental institutions such as national security. Although rumors have always existed, new information frontiers allow them to circulate in ways that present unique challenges.
The demand for discussions about rumors and their impacts is recognizably relevant in current Arab societies. Through this conference, we aim to explore methods of rumor management in an attempt to confront challenges facing media-industry professionals.
